CSV250 riaa or not??
CSV250 riaa or not??
The CSV 250 amp. comes in various editions. 250/1 - 250 SK etc. Can anyone tell me if there is one of them that is without riaa?
Mine is playing fine and clear, but very low sound with very little bass.

Hi Morten,
it seems to me, that some of the electrolyte capacitors are
defective due to age.
You have to change the bad ones.
Or swap them all out, as I like to do.

Michael

Re: CSV250 riaa or not??
Hello Morton,
only two CSV 250 exist, CSV 250 and CSV 250/1. Cockpit 250 (SK) and Audio 250 are not related to the CSV. Both CSV have a MM-Preamplifier for the input "Phono".
Is there an identical problem on left and right channel? Low volume and weak bass sounds like a capacitor problem.
Best Regards
Gerhard

Re: CSV250 riaa or not??
I have 1 CSV250 SK.
Printed on the plate underneath, so it does exist.
The low sound is the same on both channels.
Most of the capasitors are replaced 6 months ago, but the amp has been stored until now.
Even though it's "forbidden", I tried to carefully stream music to the phono input and the sound and sound level is normal and sounds fantastic, like the rest of the line inputs.

Hello Morten,
maybe your CSV 250 SK is an export version? Could you upload a photo of the plate underneath?
In some markets the inputs could be different. I think in former East Germany it was standard for moving magnet record players to have a preamplifier inside. A possible reason for this could be that cristal pickups were much more popular there and many amplifiers and receivers did not have an extra phono input with preamplifier (you would be unable to use that with a cristal pickup).
This could be a possible explanation for your CSV 250 SK to have no preamplifier.
Best Regards
